Microsoft To Patch IE Security Flaw On Wednesday

Microsoft said Tuesday that it plans to release a Patch for its Internet Explorer browser on Wednesday to repair a dangerous security breach.

The maker of the world’s most widely used Net browser said the vulnerability may have exposed 0.2 percent of IE users to malware.

“That percentage may seem low, however it still means that a significant number of users have been affected,” the company said on a Saturday blog post. “The trend for now is going upwards: we saw an increase of over 50% in the number of reports today compared to yesterday.”

The malware infected computers visiting legitmate Web sites as well as sites hosting porn.

In a security bulletin posted on its site, Microsoft said the “out of band” patch would be discussed in two webcass scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
