Cell Phone Video Watch Is Phenom-enal

Phenom's SpecialOPS watch is a fully functional GSM cell phone with a touchscreen, an external key pad and a media player

LG Electronics may be the first company with a wristwatch-style 3G video smartphone, but Phenom has certainly the most complete line in the category of wristwatch phones with 15 different models.

When it issued a press release this morning, the relatively unknown New-York startup is hoping to catch some of the publicity spurred by LG’s GD910 wristwatch phone for its own line of video watch phones: SpecialOPS, Stylista, CrossTrainer, Elite, Mi5, ONE, Sporty, Supreme and X Two.

Phenom watch phones have been for sale on the web for about a month already at prices starting $195.

Phenom’s wristwatch phones are not 3G-capable

LG’s and Phenom’s watch-phones share most of the same capabilities: touchscreen, music and video playback, Bluetooth, modem tethering. But unlike LG’s GD910, none of the Phenom watches are 3G-capable phone.

My favourites are the $300 feature-packed SpecialOPS watch and the dual standby GSM X Two phone, which can hold two SIM cards for two GSM carriers, simultaneously!

Phenom watches are designed in Israel and made in China.
