Clean Tech Boost From Energy Department Stimulus Money Still Not Felt

The Obama Administration by way of the Energy Department has awarded $22 billion for clean technology research and project deployment.

Most of this shot in the arm has yet to be felt.

As of Dec. 25, only $1.7 billion has been spent, or 5.3 percent of the total. That means the expected stimulus from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act hasn’t yet arrived.

The slow start for the stimulus spending bodes well for 2010 and for 2011, when greater sums of money should start flowing.

According to the DoE update, another $11 billion in funding could be awarded. So far, spending has been greatest among energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmental management projects.

The department has awarded $21.9 billion of $32.7 billion of authorized funds.

I was very upset today when I received a letter saying I had been disqualified for unemployment comp[ensation until I had worked about 8 more months. I have worked sice I was 15. Now there is NO income because my husband said he was not fixing to pick it up. I have called so many org. to try and get heat and a group that worked in one of the places, got together and paid for it themselves. I have no clue as to who they are. My parents have been sick and I was driving 70 miles one way to sit with them. My dad died the first of Feb. Gas expense is outrageous and I will contonue to make the trip for Mom. Now I have the same gene she does and have cancelled Birmingham twice because of gas and co-pay. I know some of you are laughing but I never dreamed I would land up like this either. It is so depressing and no relief in sight. Not any of the charities could help. What do you do ou just sit by yourself and cry and wonder what happened to life. Bad when you can not give to church. I hate the fact that it has destroyed a happy family and now my husband says our daughter would have to come out of college. We are a burden. I hope she and I will vanish from the state and no one would have to worry about helping me out. I have never seen the USA like this and it is sad to know we portray something that we really are not. People have to live like this everyday. There is no hope left and I have never thought that at all. Guess you have to walk in someone else’s shoes if they have any.We are better off not to be in it. It sure explains why a lot of people do some of the things they do because it is a desperate situation
